About Me
I am a traveling nature photographer. My passion is capturing the beauty of wildlife, from tiny insects to majestic deer and everything in between. I also enjoy taking landscape and abstract photos. With my camera in hand, I explore the world and capture fleeting moments that tell a story. I strive to create images that inspire a sense of wonder and appreciation for the natural world.
The Beginning
I took a photography class in high school and remember disliking it entirely because my teacher was very particular about details and gave very little artistic freedom. It was almost a science to him and that translated to me thinking that photography had to follow these specific rules in order to be any good. Fast forward to 2020 when I took a photo with my Galaxy S10 while camping in the largest ponderosa forest in the world. I leaned my phone up against a rock to take a photo of the stars, set the shutter speed to the maximum 30 seconds and what I saw on the screen after the time was up, changed my photography perspective forever. I got the photo shown above, of the dead red tree and the stars splattered behind it. This photo is completely unedited and straight out of my phone, and the red hue of the tree was from the little burning coals we had left in our campfire.
The Turn
After this I started to take more photos with my phone until I bought my first DSLR. A Canon EOS T7 with two kit lenses. In 2021, I had two jobs working as a PDI Technician at RideNow Powersports and working at a local gun store. I left them both to work as an independent contractor for Rocket Lister as a real estate photographer and I LOVED IT. In the time that I was there I had spent thousands of dollars on new camera equipment and started to get into everything from landscape to wildlife to abstract long exposure photography.
Today
I loved my job but it kept me in the Phoenix area which, if you're not familiar with Arizona, is HOT. It regularly gets into the 110's in the summer and in 2022, there were 113 total days that had 100+ degree highs. I was tired of it and wanted to move out of it. I decided to move to Prescott Arizona which is at about one mile in elevation and has much cooler summers. I got a job in the firearms industry working as a sales account executive at Davidson's, one of the largest firearms distributors in the country. After almost exactly one year there, and talking to countless people from around the country, I had decided that I wanted to see as much as I could before I settle down. So I left the great position I had, sold everything but my camera and a backpack and set out for an adventure. That brings this story to today.
